What does success mean to you?
So the tumble drier broke which is one of those little reminders that you live in the real world still while everything still feels a little like living in a bubble.
Anyway so I'm stood in the school playground dropping off Annabelle wearing a pair of shorts that a French lifeguard once deemed passable as a speedo in order to allow me pool access.
I'm stood here wishing I was wearing a t-shirt saying,
"The tumble drier broke, I'm not THAT guy".
Do you ever do that thing where you look at people killing it on facebook and then throw yourself a moment of self pity?
Wow they're so success, what have they got that I haven't?
I did yesterday, I guess as a reflection on our giving up a successful business and starting new ones.
It's a pointless distraction really and a nonsense story.
You zone in on the nice car and lap top on the beach but edited out the broken tumble drier, stupid shorts and the fact that you have no idea what that person has or doesn't have feels or doesn't feel, wants or doesn't want.
You just saw a picture.
It's our definition of success that keeps us from this, that allow us to keep doing what we're doing, to keep creating our thing.
It's the media definition of success that pulls us off course and causes us to make decisions and take actions to create a life that we in no way want for ourselves.
It's saying "I wish I had perceived success" how crazy is that?
The fact is, to many people, you do.
The truth is that if you are alive today and reading this then you are in the top 5% of most successful people who EVER lived.
We get to create a life that brings us joy more that almost anyone else, ever.
Sort of puts things in perspective doesn't it?
What's your definition of success?
I would love to know.
