Woman breaks all the rules and gets everything she wanted...
I recently started working with a new client and she wrote something brilliant I just had to share with you.
One of the things we have been looking at aside from business is food/diet.
She felt trapped by it, she couldn't lose weight, had zero energy and couldn't sustain work. She had a head filled with diet rules.
Have a read of what she has learned in the last 22 days.
Keep in mind, I have taught her nothing:
- I don't always need to have breakfast, sometimes I feel better and have more energy if I start eating later in the day... this is a real shock.
- I don't keel over if I train without breakfast... this is even more shocking.
- Snacking makes me feel more hungry, not less.
- I think I sometimes eat when really I am bored or need to rest.
- I have lost weight (7lbs) and gained energy without counting, weighing, measuring or restricting volume.
- I have eaten quite a lot of fat, and still lost weight.
- too many choices/ too much variety makes decisions hard and sometimes I make poorer ones.
- I don't miss certain foods at all.
-it doesn't bother me or make me crave if someone eats takeaway in front of me.
- some foods I relied on to pick me up were not helping, I'm not eating them now and am not having afternoon energy slumps.
-I have lost weight and trained hard not eating 6 times a day.
-I have enjoyed the ritual of cooking and sharing meals.
- I have not gained weight by eating my main meal in the evening.
- I feel better for having longer gaps between meals.
- I don't often feel physically hungry at the moment.
- I mistake bored, emotional and tired for hungry if I don't pay attention.
-I don't need to follow a rigid plan to feel better.
- I am still scared this is temporary and some kind of magic tricks that will wear off...
^^^^^ incredible right?
Ok, so here is the secret sauce.
First I gave her a shopping list of foods.
Rules:
1. Eat when you like
2. Don't restrict carbs, fat or protein
3. Have fun
4. Listen, document, learn
Is this for everyone, maybe not, self awareness and patiences and willingness to accept that everything you think you know about nutrition might be wrong are all needed.
Things I have taught her about nutrition - zero.
Things she has learned about nutrition - well, you've seen the list.
The best teacher in the world on what works for you.
YOU.
If the rules that currently guide you aren't working for you.
Make your own rules.
Forget what the experts say,
You're the world foremost expert on you.
