The Worst Days End Reactively

The Worst Days End Reactively

That’s not even quite it. It’s more like cruise control has been engaged taking you on a path of least resistance.

You’re in an Ego depleted state, no longer capable of swimming against the tide.

Body says lie down you lie down.
Brain says check phone, you check phone.
Body says eat sugar you eat sugar.
Brain says beer you beer.
Netflix says “are you still watching” and you say “of course I’m still watching you patronising * * * *

It barely even matters that the other voice in your head is saying,

Play with your kids
Chat to your partner
Leave your phone alone
Wait for dinner
Help out, engage.
Leave the lap top.
Get off the sofa.
Go to bed.

You are being pull along by your feelings rather than by what you want to do to connection, be present and be in your best state for tomorrow.

The Best Days End Strategically With;

A transition ritual
Some sort of practise deliberately designed to change you from a problem solving high alert state to a calm, relaxed and present state. This can involve, to do list for tomorrow, changing clothes, brief exercise, brief meditation, music and dancing 🕺 anything to create a deliberate change in state.

Re-engagement
The day isn’t over, far from it, this time is all about connection, with family, friends or even with yourself. Plan something really fulfilling, creative, playful, challenging even. That could be something as simple as adding a little creativity to your evening meal, it doesn’t have to be elaborate, just life affirming.

A sleep ritual
Every cell in the body has a 24 hour clock that is set by food, exercise, temperature and light. A consistent exposure to these, in particular watching sun up and sun down set our energy and tiredness for the day. The more sleep time can go from no work, to food, sun down, to screens off, in a structured manner the better the quality of your sleep, energy, mental and physical health will be.

Which you choose will go a long way towards determining how tomorrow will go…

How you feel about your life, how much energy you have and how stressed you are.

What does your evening ritual look like?
