How to start your day with meditation
I start the day with meditation 🧘♂️
You likely have a very different image in your mind to my reality of the dog whining for a walk, or one of the kids waking up and putting the tv on but it is what it is.
Honestly I think it just adds to the practise and that’s what it is,
Practise.
The practise of stepping back
Observing my breathing
Observing my thoughts
Observing my heart beat
And ultimately realising that I am not them all in preparation for observing all the possible futures that are open to me throughout the day and choosing wisely.
👁 Look, there’s my ego directing me towards an argument.
👁 Look there’s me turning it into a joke.
Take the first path and it’s leading me down a path of a fragile ego, reactivity and shallow and broken relationships.
Take the second and it leads me towards fun, happiness and greater connection.
👁 Look, there’s me choosing adrenaline, reactivity, urgency, trying to hustle through the day.
👁 Better to take the path of planning, process and presence.
The first takes me down a path of stress and illness.
We say ONCE won’t hurt but we’re greasing the grove every time making the path easier and easier to take becoming more and more automatic.
The second path does the same. It teaches our nervous system that what ever happens we WILL be present with it and face it with calm and clarity.
Presence with your partner and kids teaches presence with your work and the world
I’m not saying I take the BEST path every time. I’m not even saying there is a BEST path, that’s the trial and error and constant improvement that’s life.
What I’m saying is that strive to be present and conscious to my choices because every choice strengthens a pathway towards a more likely future.
Meditation is the tool I use to practise that.
Coaching is the system I use to decide what I want life to look like, who I want to be and how to set things up to be that.
Which path are you strengthening right now?
