No amount of hard work will compensate for a flawed process
I EASILY played 10,000 hours of football growing up.
Spoiler alert, I didn’t go Pro!
Not because I lacked the ability but because I didn’t face the very things that I knew would prevent me from making it.
My lack of courage and my low confidence in producing my best performance in games.
Those things are infinitely solvable but my failure to face them made much of those 10,000 plus hours a waste of time in terms of achieving my desired outcome.
In order to keep myself from having to face these uncomfortable truths I did two things:
* diminish their importance in my mind and lie to myself. (I still knew the truth though).
* Tell myself I could fix it willpower
These two steps are vital if we are to keep doing something that we know will hurt us, the people around us or our own chances of success.
Believe me I’ve experienced the truth of this more times than I can count.
No amount of hard work will compensate for a flawed process.
Something I remind myself of daily.
