Not when we rigorously apply the scientistic method, it’s the rest of the time.

Not when we rigorously apply the scientistic method, it’s the rest of the time.

We have two challenges.

We believe ourselves to be rational and we are not, in fact we are predictably irrational.

Our brain activity seeks evidence that our beliefs are right and actively dismissed evidence that they are wrong.

The net result of this is that we can describe ourselves as, for example,

“an all or nothing sort of person”

as a result of perhaps strictly dieting for 30 days and then eating crap for 2 days and before giving up the diet.

And then our brain will immediately get to work convincing us of the truth of our statement.

We now have our own self fulfilling prophecy underpinning everything we do.

We have become an “all or nothing” person but only because we decided that’s what we are.

The way we do one thing becomes the way we do everything.
