The biggest mistake leaders make in their leadership approach
The biggest mistake leaders make in their leadership approach is to assume authority OVER those they are leading.
I’m not saying deliberately, there is a lot tied up in the history of leadership that helps to create this unconscious supposition.
The brain is constantly on the look out for its status within the tribe and any attempts to place controls upon it.
When it experiences these things it goes into a flight, fight or freeze state and we literally get the opposite of what we were aiming to achieve.
A leader needs to keep at top of mind that s/he works for THEM and has 3 primary roles in doing that.
1. Supporting them to map and learn from the PAST
2. Mapping and protecting the PRESENT
3. Projecting the FUTURE. Where they are going and what resources, support and skills are needed to get there.
