Do you live and die with your business ups and down?
Do you live and die with your business ups and down?
Strange when you think about it.
I’ve definely done my fair share of living and dying with mine over the years.
Business is good, you make some good calls, the timing is right, you make some good sales, some great hirers and a bunch of stuff falls into place…
The stars align.
All of a sudden you’ve a spring in your step.
You’re fun to be around.
You’re confident.
You look after your health a bit more, you have more time and energy for your family.
Your sex life improves.
You want to see more people.
You communicate better with you team and the world and more opportunities come your way.
Or perhaps business isn’t so good.
The sales pipeline has stalled a little, you have some staffing challenges, some areas of the business perhaps don’t serve the whole.
You start to feel low, you are constantly on high alert.
You feel like an impostor
You’re trying to pressure the team.
You have less time for family.
You stop looking after your health as well.
You want to hide from the world a bit.
More problems seem to pour in.
You are the exact opposite of the person you need to be in this situation.
The problem isn’t the up or the down.
The problem is who we become in relation to it. Because when it changes who we show up as it makes the downs longer, harder to get out of and more frequent.
When you’re attached to results life is a stressful rollercoaster and you are a nightmare to be around for family and staff alike.
In order to be successful you have to detach from the idea that your value has anything to do with the business performance.
You knew there would be ups and downs.
Who did you say you were going to be during the downs?
Who did you say you were going to be when someone wasn’t performing?
Who did you say you were going to be when the sales pipeline slowed?
Be that.
