CEO's and Overwhelm - What to stop

I can’t remember where I heard it,

but the best or rather most useful description I’ve heard as to what pain is, is that pain is the brain saying,

🛑 Stop doing it like that

Overwhelm is the same.

It’s not a random occurrence.

Its the brain saying that you have created the perfect formula for generating overwhelm along with all the other experiences current in your life.

So if you’re stressed, exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious it’s because of something you are already doing.

Believe me I’m attaching no judgement to that.

I’ve been stressed, anxious, overwhelmed and had chronic pain and the biggest mistake I made was to start searching around for what I wasn’t doing.

But what STOP 🛑 doing it like that

taught me was that the experience was a result of something I was already doing NOT something I wasn’t doing.

I was digging for gold that I was already in possession of… or something like that.

If my pain, stress, overwhelm were cause and effect my first step need to be getting clear on all the things I was actually doing and the effect it was causing.

When I took the time to do that I quickly realised there was a whole bunch of stuff I could stop doing.

The cool thing was that this didn’t just remove the negative emotion, it created so much space that everything I was already doing let’s call it positive stuff started to yield better results.

Like if you’re less stressed you sleep better and recover from exercise better and digest better and all of those things snowball into more energy, health, vibrancy and presence.

With more energy and presence you communicate better, fix problems better and have more patience for people and tasks.

And it all starts with acknowledging that your current experience of life is something that you’re cooking up not something you’re being force fed.

That doesn’t need to be a tough pill to swallow it can be the most freeing realisation ever because it means you are totally in control.
