What is success to you?
Success
It could be hard to achieve if you don’t know what it means to you.
Or perhaps you already have it defined but your definition is causing you to suffer?
Is it something off in the future that you don’t yet have, and if so when you reach it will you then be successful or will you push it off into the future again?
And if that’s what it is and that’s how you see it, what does that mean for you now… are you fated to constantly see yourself as unsuccessful always chasing the future and never feeling grounded in your own success in the present?
Is it a house size, location, what school your children go to, the car you drive, is it an amount in the bank or is it a specific monthly income or position in the hierarchy?
Maybe you have those things, maybe you’re already SUCCESSFUL by this standard. But does this definition not keep you trapped in your current circumstance, regardless of whether you are suffering for them?
Does it not prevent you from filling your days with things that bring you joy and make finding peace in the moment impossible as you’re doomed to always be chasing to stay ahead or even level with your own definition? (I’m not saying it does, I’m just curious).
Or is success about your freedoms.
The freedom to be who you are, to engage in activities that bring you joy, to be with those people to who most inspire you and whom you most love, to have freedom of time and location or perhaps, is success the ability to accept and be present with this moment now regardless of where you are in what ever game you’re playing?
Do you see how important this is for you… what you believe?
Do you see that what you believe about the world and yourself is the cause of how you feel RIGHT NOW and the actions you choose to fill your day with, what you find stressful, what you prioritise, idolise and memorialise?
What do you believe about success, money, happiness, love, sex, marriage, leadership, business, friendship, politics, life the universe and everything?
And more to the point, how’s that working for you?
