Grabbing your phone on waking doesn’t guarantee overwhelm

Grabbing your phone on waking doesn’t guarantee overwhelm

But it is a common step on the path to overwhelm.

Over the years of working with leaders, founders and C level folks I’ve seen a bunch of things that seem to move them towards or away from overwhelm.

Towards:

- Grant all task equal importance
- Neglect basic health hygiene
- Have a finger in every pie
- Open door policy
- Do emails at any available moment
- No meetings structure
- Do yourself what can be delegated
- Give instructions
- Make busyness the priority

Away from:

- Prioritise
- Focus on basic health hygiene
- Delegate
- Daily deep work uninterrupted times
- Have specific email / slack times
- Outcome focused meeting structure
- Extraction based communication
- Plan your day
- Review your day

Make clarity your primary objective. You can’t provide it if you don’t maintain it.
