So many leaders mistakenly believe that instruction is what creates speed

So many leaders mistakenly believe that instruction is what creates speed

they say,

“While the team is this young I need to tell them what to do.”

“I have all the knowledge at the moment.”

“The team isn’t experienced enough yet for me to delegate.”

“While we have to move this fast I don’t have time to coach them”.

They say these things without really knowing what it’s like to work in a company of fully autonomous people.

An autonomous individual doesn’t JUST get on with it, work in silence and figure it out for themselves.

They ask for HELP and when they ask for help they don’t mean give me the answer.

They mean let me borrow your brain so that I can connected the dots in my own brain, give me the questions I need to create the big picture I need.

Great leaders ask for help and they create a culture of asking for help.

When they realise the power of this they almost cannot believe that life can be this simple.

I’ve had founders go from struggling with ONE C level position to taking on 3.

I’ve had CEO’s go from a 70 hour weeks down to 20

and yes I’ve had some use their new approach to double the size of their business.

Instruction is ALWAYS the slowest form of leadership

Extracting doesn’t just beat it in the long run, it moves faster from day ONE

It’s the difference between one brain and 100 body Vs 100 brains.

Are you instructing or extracting?
