The happiest people in the world

A guy walks into a pub, strolls up to the bar and says to the landlord.

"I've just moved to the area, what are the people like around here?"

The landlord smiles and says,

"Hey, what are the people like where you're from?"

"Miserable, rude and back stabbing" says the man.

The landlord gave a knowing nod.

"I think you'll find they're much the same around here, can I get you a drink?".

The man sits down for a drink and only a few minutes pass when another man walking in and heads to the bar.

"I've just moved to the area, what are the people like around here?"

Says the man.

The landlord smiles and says,

"Hey, what are the people like where you're from?"

"Generous, kind, thoughtful, grateful, I wish I didn't have to leave to be honest."

Said the man.

"I think you'll find they're much the same around here".

Said the landlord.

I've been to Denmark a ton of times and to be honest, I don't really see any disproportionate levels of happiness compared to anywhere else I've been.

If I had to put my finger on what leads to happiness I would have to point to 4 things:

1. Low expectations
2. Something fulfilling to do
3. Responsibility or low complaining
4. Seeing the best in others

I think the Danes have 1 and 3 as national traits much like New Zealanders. If we are looking for happiness though I think focusing on these 4 would be a good place to put our focus.

Have a great day
