Have you ever sat by the sea and noticed how calm you feel?
I'm doing that now, the waves are as consistent as a heart beat or breathing like they are all controlled by the same conductor.
Interestingly when we are able to see a really long way our body is dominated by the parasympathetic nervous system known as rest and digest.
and when we look at something close up and really focus we are dominated by the sympathetic nervous system known as fight, flight or freeze.
It's a healthy balance of full on and full off that we pendulum between for good health.
It's when we get stuck full on for too long that the body starts to go wrong.
EVERYTHING that happens in the body is a product of something happening in the brain.
Eyes
Skin
Mouth
Ears
Nose
Proprioception
All provide the brain with the information it uses to inform the body of what to do.
Eyes love open and closed focus
Skin loves variety of hot and cold and constant varied stimulation.
The mouth loves to explore new tastes and textures.
The ears love quiet, pure quiet, as well as stimulation and rhythm.
The nose loves smells and breathing.
Proprioception loves unstable surfaces and constant balance challenge.
Constant varied new stimulation is what the brain wants to grow and develop.
Stimulate your senses and with yin and yang and your brain will stay healthy and so will your body.
