The advice JUST be consistent would be laughable if it wasn’t so damaging

What’s wrong with me?

Back when I was a personal trainer I would see two type of problem.

The one where they would ask, what’s GOING wrong with me?

The basis of that question is that there is some sort of pain or problem.

Not sleeping, muscle pain, low energy, weight gain.

Something isn’t working but they don’t know what is at the root.

They have come to me as an investigator so we can find and implement a solution.

The other type could be exactly the same pains ie the not sleeping, muscle pain, low energy, excess fat but these people THINK they know the solution

They JUST can’t get themselves to CONSISTENTLY do it.

These people are annoyed, frustrated, embarrassed, and have often constructed a whole narrative around why the problem can’t be solved and have created a whole bunch of complexity in their lives to protect themselves from their SHAMEFUL inconsistency.

*BTW this is what our brains do to keep us safe. It’s totally normal. It happens automatically.

So the first group (us 5% of the time) are just missing some ingredient to support the desired function of the human body.

The second group - (us 95% of the time) there is something wrong with?

This makes no sense of course.

What’s true in both cases is that the brains needs are not being met.

Whether it’s inconsistency, pain, excess fat, poor sleep, impostor syndrome, depression, anxiety, low energy, stress, overwhelm, the WRONG question is, what’s wrong with me?

The RIGHT questions,

What is my body trying to tell me?

What does my brain need?

What is the cause of this effect?

There is nothing WRONG simply a need not being met.
