"You'll be so happy there..."

It's seems everyone I speak to about our move either assumes we are moving towards happiness or away from sadness.

The truth is, everywhere you go, there you are.

We were really happy in Bristol but we were presented with an opportunity.

Which is to say we had a puzzle to solve and decide to solve it in the most adventurous way.

As humans we have a natural tendency to look for things to add to our lives in order to make us happy.

Or look at other people who seem to have everything and then seek to add the 'stuff' they have to make ourselves happier.

Bigger houses, flash cars, perfumes, social media connections, designer clothes, better holidays, most athletic figure, moving to a new country.

We are fooled into consumerism based on the illusion of happiness that marketers portray using famous people and now us with our 'life is great' social media.

The truth is that our happiness is always a product of our thoughts and nothing else.

Rather than being additive we are more likely to improve our happiness by taking things away.

Take away the news,
Stop caring about the weather,
Stop complaining,
Clear out your wardrobe,
Get rid of anything you haven't used within the last 3-6 months.

Create an environment that inspires more positive thoughts.

One with savings,
One with daily reminders of great times
One with daily great times
One where we look of the most positive attributes in others.

If moving has done anything it has allowed us to plan our dream life and start living it more deliberately.

But like most people, when you really take the time to think.

Our dream life looks more like our definition of freedom than of success.

Our thoughts are a product of our environment, internal and external and the things we pay attention to.

My hope with my writing is that it be one
Of those things worth paying attention to
