It's not all roses
Saturday night midnight the frequently and noisily sexed woman from upstairs blasted her music so loud the flat shook...
She is all about the base.
About 3 days a week our living room stinks of what appears to be stale smoke.
Annabelle's school is disorganised and communicates poorly.
My breathing has not been good for about a month which I'm pretty sure is connected to how dry the houses are here and the smoke.
(I have Asthma although had no symptoms for about 5 years.)
Oh... we do not yet have an income that is sufficient to sustain our life here, not that we expected it to yet.
This is the story I could tell you and tell myself daily.
Our brains have a habit of frequently turning our attention to what is wrong.
We have a habit of withholding what is wrong because we want people to think we are living the dream.
The thing is, not only is it possible to have loads of things not what you would like them to be and still love your life, having things wrong improves your life.
There is a thing in Japan where if a pot is broken and then glued back together it is now deemed more valuable than before.
Humans, as much as society pushes us to be, aren't objects.
We are stories.
The restored pot becomes a story where once it was an object and so increases in value.
Humans are never objects.
We are problem solving machines and with each problem we solve our lives become richer.
Christina and I are happy in having made the best decision of our lives.
We have written down our problems and have action plans for each.
^^^^ it is failing to do this or trying to fix things that can't be that causes a fixation on the negative and so a negative life.
Life isn't a process of living perfect lives but one of constantly upgrading the puzzles you get to solve and the methods with which you solve them.
The health and energy of people who work long hours is the puzzle that most occupies my mind.
My life's work... is about ever more efficiently fixing a problem.
No problems.
No life.
