Case Studies

Case Study  1

Andrew 39 started working with me as part of a lifestyle overhaul.  A rapid progression up the ranks to partner in a top tear law firm had been stressful on mind and body.

We quickly identified that client entertain and 14 hour days were a part of the job that wasn’t going to change.

Using the principles of stress and digestion we created an eating system that was both adaptable dependent upon the day ahead but also be very enjoyable as well as delivering results.

We experimented with training systems before settling on the one he found most enjoyable and least draining.  We found this was important as we didn’t want the need for motivation to be a factor in the training programme.

These photographs were taken 60 days apart but the individual has been a client for 6 years.

Case Study 2

Kevin 59 (business owner) contacted me suffering with two issues. Chronic knee and ankle pain for which knee replacement surgery was scheduled in 4 month time, and depression.

He was taking medication for the pain and the depression but after a long chat we agreed that the depression was a result of social isolation.  Most people don’t understand pain very well, if they see it come and go they assume it’s psychosomatic.  This puts a strain on relationships.  Also pain and emotion come from the same part of the brain.

Efforts to suppress one will suppress all. We decided to fix the pain first and see what we were left with. We discussed what the physiotherapists and doctors had tried and went in another direction.

I did a neural assessment and a breathing and movement assessment. I noted that this inner ear was not functioning as well as it should on the right side of his body and his breathing was off.

His adductor was also dominating this Psoas and QL.  I gave him drills to fix these issues and managed to take the pain from a 9 (10) to a 3.  We then created a 15 minute workout that he could do every day to maintain this.

We worked together for 3 month, the last 7 weeks happy and pain free.

Case Study 3

John 54 (CEO and NED) came to me having been alcohol dependent, wired and run down.  After a long chat we decided on the smallest possible steps that would fit in with his incredibly busy schedule.

We chatted once a week and made small incremental changes that fit into his life.  58 now John takes 500-1000 mile bike riding holidays a couple of times per year.

He enjoys significantly higher energy and significantly lower stress without any change in work commitments or responsibility.

Case Study 4

Laura 56 Medical manager.  Laura came to me to lose just over 1 stone.  I discovered in the interview that she had been following a ridged calorie controlled diet.  I also learned that she had had a stroke and would categorise herself as both highly stress 8 (10) and very low on energy 2 (10) most days.

We created a back and forth email dialogue.  I also sent videos for anything where a deeper explanation was needed.  Laura preferred to communicate this way and I really enjoyed the process too.

Laura went through a process that I call “the work” she defined her values and beliefs and what a purposeful life looked like to her.  After 3 months together she moved to a (2) 10 in stress and 7 (10) in energy.  She also lost the weight she wanted to and was genuinely excited about life again.
