The gift of anxiety

We have just arrived here which is to me, the most peaceful place on earth.

We are sat up at the top of a mountain and the only sounds is the bells chiming from the mountain cows below.

We are over looking lake Geneva with the French Alps on one side and the Swiss Alps on the other.

We have arrived quite unexpectedly to 22 degrees sunshine.

Fortunately all I have pack is shorts and t-shirts, the rest of the family are all packed for Autumn.

There are two extremes of people, one is the too anxious to even speak to another person and the other is the common sense free, action taker.

Very few people are the extremes but we are all somewhere on the scale,

genetically.

I say this because I'm closer to the common sense free end.

I don't think things through that much instinctively,

I have to push myself to do it.

It's thought that tribes were made up of a perfect balance of the two.

Half adept at seeing what could go wrong, half bulls in China shops...

I say this because Anxiety is talked of today as a thing to shake off or medicate.

It's BAD

and this story creates resistance which causes it to both grow or incentivise us to medicate in order to get rid of it with alcohol and cigarettes.

Anxiety is in truth, an alarm.

An alarm saying pay attention,

There might be something
There might be nothing,
but something might not be right,
so investigate.

The story of BAD causes us to create stories of fear.

The story of GIFT causes us to seek and fix real problems.

Alarms aren't always right but they always warrant investigation.

It's important that the world learn this distinction because the world desperately needs both.

See your superpowers folks
